February Is Here And Your Dog Has Feelings About It

Short days. Cold snaps. Rain that can't quite decide if it wants to be drizzle or a downpour. If you've noticed your dog being a little more restless, demanding extra attention, or bouncing off the walls by 4pm, you're not imagining it. February is one of the trickiest months for dog owners in North London, and your pup feels it too.

At The Wag Club, we've been keeping dogs happy, socialised, and stimulated across Alexandra Palace, Muswell Hill, Golders Green, and West Hampstead all year round and February is when our work really counts.

Why Dog Socialisation Matters More in Winter

During summer, dogs naturally get more outdoor time, more sniffs, more stimulation. Come February, many dogs are getting shorter, quieter walks, which means their social and mental needs aren't being met.

Dogs are pack animals. Without regular interaction with other dogs and humans, even the most laid-back pup can develop anxiety, destructive behaviours, or excessive barking. Dog daycare in North London provides the consistent social environment your dog needs, regardless of what the weather's doing outside.

A day at The Wag Club means: off-lead play with familiar friends, supervised socialisation with new dogs introduced carefully, enrichment activities, rest time, and plenty of love from our experienced team. It's not babysitting, it's an active part of your dog's wellbeing routine.

Valentine's Day: Show Your Dog Some Love 🐢❀️

14th February isn't just for the humans. This year, why not treat your dog to a full day of socialisation, play, and pampering at The Wag Club? A day with their mates, in a safe and loving environment, is genuinely one of the best gifts you can give them.

We'd love to see your Valentine's Day dog photos so please tag us on Instagram and show us how your pup celebrates.

February Dog Care Tips from Our Team

1. Watch for seasonal skin and coat issues. Cold air and central heating is a tough combination for dogs' skin. Make sure they're well-hydrated and their coat is regularly brushed. If you're noticing dry, flaky skin or dull fur, it may be worth a chat with your vet.

2. Keep walks shorter but more frequent. Rather than one long muddy expedition, two or three shorter walks can be easier on both of you and your floors.

3. Mental stimulation is exercise too. Puzzle feeders, sniff mats, and training sessions burn energy just as effectively as a run in the park. Our team incorporates enrichment into every session at The Wag Club.

4. Post-walk paw care. Grit, salt, and cold pavements can cause cracking and irritation to paw pads. Get into the habit of a quick paw check and wipe-down after every walk.

5. Don't skip socialisation. It's tempting to hibernate together but dogs who miss regular social contact can find it harder to readjust come spring. Keeping up a regular daycare routine through winter pays dividends.
